Future doctors discussed modern approaches to child feeding
1 / 8On October 29, a meeting of the student scientific circle on the topic "Modern aspects of feeding healthy infants and young children" was held at the Department of Pediatric Diseases of OrGMU. It was attended by 3rd year students of the Pediatric Faculty, the faculty of the department, as well as representatives of pharmaceutical companies producing baby food.
The program of the meeting included reports and practical discussions on the organization and support of breastfeeding, evaluation of indications and the algorithm for choosing formula for artificial feeding.
The interactive part of the event included watching an educational film and a role-playing game - this format helped future doctors to work out algorithms of actions and techniques of medical communication. The students learned not just to make recommendations, but to build a dialogue with their parents, answer difficult questions and relieve family anxiety.
In addition, future doctors presented their own information booklets, which contain brief but meaningful answers to the most common questions from parents: "Do I need to drink extra water?", "Recommendations for hypogalactia", "Is it possible to give cow's milk at 9 months?", "What to do with vitamins", "From what how old should I give juices and why?", "My child does not eat meat."
- This format of communication between students and teachers during extracurricular time at meetings of student scientific circles, combining theory, practice and interactive, is of great interest to students, and is useful for mastering the disciplines "Propaedeutics of childhood diseases, "Pediatrics," said Larisa Popova, Head of the Department of Pediatric Diseases of OrGMU, MD.
